Frequently Asked Questions
How long is the NHS waiting list?▼
Current NHS waiting times are 2-5 years for ADHD assessments and 3-5 years for autism assessments. Over 500,000 people are waiting for ADHD assessment and 172,000+ for autism. Private assessment with us takes just 2 weeks from initial consultation to diagnosis.
Is private diagnosis accepted by the NHS?▼
Yes, our diagnoses are fully recognised by the NHS. We follow NICE guidelines and our psychiatrists are GMC-registered consultants. We can arrange shared care agreements with your NHS GP for ongoing medication, meaning you'll pay NHS prescription prices rather than private costs.
Can I get medication immediately?▼
If ADHD is diagnosed and medication is appropriate, our psychiatrists can prescribe immediately. We start with careful titration and monitoring. Medications include methylphenidate (Ritalin/Concerta), lisdexamfetamine (Elvanse), and atomoxetine (Strattera). Autism doesn't have specific medications but we can treat associated conditions.
What age groups do you assess?▼
We assess adults aged 18 and over. Many adults are diagnosed later in life - average age for adult ADHD diagnosis is 35, and many autistic adults aren't diagnosed until their 30s or 40s. It's never too late to seek assessment if you're struggling with symptoms.
What if I'm not diagnosed?▼
Not everyone assessed receives a diagnosis. If criteria aren't met, we'll explain why and explore alternative explanations for your difficulties. You'll receive a comprehensive report detailing our findings and recommendations for support. We may identify other conditions like anxiety, depression, or trauma that can be treated.
