Private Full Body Ultrasound Scan London: The Executive Health Screen That Checks Everything
Most people wait until something goes wrong before they investigate their health. A symptom appears, a blood test comes back abnormal, or a family member receives a diagnosis that suddenly makes everything feel more urgent. By that point, conditions may have been developing silently for months or years.
A full body ultrasound scan takes a different approach. It is a proactive, comprehensive assessment of your body's major organs, blood vessels, and heart — designed to identify problems before they become emergencies, provide a detailed baseline of your health, and give you the information you need to make informed decisions about your wellbeing.
At The Wellness London, the Executive Body Scan covers six scan areas in a single appointment, all performed by a GMC-registered doctor who explains every finding as they scan. It is the most thorough ultrasound-based health check we offer, and it represents exceptional value compared to booking each scan individually.

What the Executive Body Scan Includes
1. Full Abdominal Ultrasound
A comprehensive assessment of your abdominal organs: liver, gallbladder, pancreas, spleen, kidneys, aorta, and bladder.
What it can detect: Fatty liver disease (affecting 25–30% of UK adults), gallstones (10–15% of adults), kidney stones, kidney cysts, liver cysts and haemangiomas, pancreatic abnormalities, splenic enlargement, aortic aneurysm, and bladder pathology.
2. Echocardiogram (Heart Scan)
A detailed ultrasound of your heart assessing chamber size, valve function, ejection fraction, wall motion, and diastolic function.
What it can detect: Valve disease, heart failure, cardiomyopathy, left ventricular hypertrophy (from high blood pressure), pericardial effusion, and structural abnormalities. NICE guideline CG95 recommends echocardiography as the first investigation for suspected structural heart disease.
3. Carotid Artery Doppler
Assessment of both carotid arteries — the main arteries supplying blood to your brain — for plaque build-up and stenosis (narrowing).
What it can detect: Atherosclerotic plaque, carotid stenosis, and intima-media thickness — identifying stroke risk before symptoms occur. Stroke is the fourth leading cause of death in the UK.
4. Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm (AAA) Check
Screening of the abdominal aorta for aneurysmal dilation. The NHS screens all men at age 65 because ruptured AAA kills approximately 4,000 people per year in England.
What it can detect: Aortic dilation and aneurysm at any stage — allowing monitoring and timely intervention before rupture.
5. Lower Limb Vascular Assessment
Doppler assessment of the major arteries and veins of the lower limbs.
What it can detect: Peripheral arterial disease (PAD), deep vein thrombosis (DVT), and venous insufficiency. PAD affects approximately 20% of people over 60 and is a strong marker of systemic cardiovascular disease.
6. Thyroid Ultrasound
Complete thyroid gland assessment including nodule detection and characterisation.
What it can detect: Thyroid nodules (present in up to 76% of adults), goitre, thyroiditis, and thyroid abnormalities requiring further investigation.

Who Books the Executive Body Scan?
Executives and professionals who want a proactive health screen alongside their busy schedule. One appointment, comprehensive results, same-day report.
Adults over 40 establishing a baseline. Many conditions — fatty liver, early atherosclerosis, valve disease, thyroid nodules — are asymptomatic in their early stages. A baseline scan detects them early.
Patients with cardiovascular risk factors. High blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes, smoking history, family history of heart disease or stroke. The Executive Body Scan covers the heart, carotid arteries, aorta, and peripheral circulation in a single visit.
Family history of cancer or organ disease. If close relatives have had liver disease, kidney disease, thyroid cancer, or aortic aneurysm, screening provides reassurance and early detection.
International patients and medical tourists. The Executive Body Scan is our most popular package for patients visiting London from overseas who want a comprehensive assessment in a single visit with same-day results.
Anyone who wants comprehensive screening and peace of mind.

What to Expect on the Day
Preparation: Fast for 6 hours before your appointment (water is fine). Arrive with a comfortably full bladder.
Duration: Approximately 90–120 minutes. All six scan areas are performed in sequence by the same GMC-registered doctor.
During the scan: Your doctor explains findings throughout. You can ask questions at any time. There is no rushed, silent scanning — this is a thorough, interactive assessment.
After the scan: Your doctor provides a comprehensive verbal debrief covering all findings across all six scan areas. Normal findings are confirmed. Any abnormalities are explained in detail with recommended next steps. A formal written report is issued the same day.
What a Full Body Ultrasound Cannot Do
Transparency matters. While the Executive Body Scan is the most comprehensive ultrasound-based health check available, ultrasound has inherent limitations:
- It does not image the coronary arteries (CT coronary angiogram is needed for this)
- It does not image the brain (MRI or CT brain is needed)
- It does not replace cancer screening programmes (mammography, colonoscopy, cervical screening)
- It cannot detect all types of cancer — some tumours are not visible on ultrasound
- Bowel pathology is generally not well assessed by ultrasound (colonoscopy or CT is preferred)
Your doctor will clearly explain what the scan covers and what additional investigations may be appropriate based on your individual risk profile and findings.
