ShaktiMat Premium Acupressure Mat

£140.00

The bed of nails, reinvented.

  • Acupressure applies targeted pressure across hundreds of points simultaneously, promoting the release of endorphins and pain relieving chemicals while stimulating the specific points that boost circulation, mirroring the mechanism of acupuncture without piercing the skin
  • The initial sensation activates the body's natural pain response, triggering happiness hormones and pain relief chemicals to the targeted area, before fading into a deep, relaxing warmth as muscles release and blood flow increases
  • Lying on the mat before sleep shifts the nervous system from sympathetic (stress) activation into parasympathetic (rest) mode, the physiological state required for falling asleep quickly and sleeping deeply
  • Premium Blissfoam, made from GOLS certified organic latex, is precision cut to cradle the body and deliver deeper sinking release than standard flat foam mats
  • Signature spikes are precision engineered for sharpness, individually hand clipped to rotating acu disks so they nestle into tension and activate pressure points without scratching, moving with the body as it relaxes

About This Product.

The bed of nails, reinvented. Thousands of precision engineered spikes across an organic cotton mat that presses hundreds of acupressure points across your back and shoulders at once, releasing tension no massage gun can reach and delivering the deepest sleep of your life in 20 minutes flat. 5,142 reviews at 4.9 stars. 98% would recommend. The ancient Indian healing tool, handcrafted with modern materials, that thousands of people now cannot fall asleep without.

Your body holds stress in places you cannot reach and cannot release on your own. Between your shoulder blades. Along your spine. In the deep muscle layers that a foam roller glances over and a massage gun cannot get into without help. You carry this tension all day, it compounds into the evening, and by the time you lie down to sleep, your nervous system is still running in the sympathetic, fight or flight state that keeps you awake, scrolling, unable to switch off. You know you are tense. You just have no efficient way to release it without booking a massage you do not have time for and cannot afford weekly.

The solutions people reach for treat the symptom, not the system. Sleeping pills sedate you without addressing why you cannot relax. Massage appointments cost £60 to £120 and the effect fades within days. Foam rollers and massage guns target individual muscles one at a time, requiring effort and technique, at the exact moment you want to do less, not more. None of them do what your body actually needs before sleep, which is to shift the entire nervous system out of stress and into rest. That shift is not something you can force through willpower. It requires a physiological trigger.

Acupressure is that trigger. The ShaktiMat is the modern version of the Indian bed of nails, a healing tool used for thousands of years to release inner tension. When you lie back on it, thousands of signature Shakti spikes press into hundreds of acupressure points across your back simultaneously. The initial sensation activates your body's pain response, which triggers the release of endorphins and pain relieving chemicals to the area, while the pressure stimulates blood flow and circulation the way acupuncture does. Within a few minutes, the sharpness fades into a deep, radiating warmth. Your muscles unlock. Your nervous system shifts into the parasympathetic rest state. And most people, within ten to twenty minutes, find themselves struggling to stay awake. No effort. No technique. You just lie there and let the mat do the work.

This is the Premium mat, ShaktiMat's most advanced version. It features their sharpest, most precisely engineered spikes, individually hand clipped to custom acu disks that rotate and move with your body so they nestle into tension without scratching. Underneath sits Premium Blissfoam, a plant based, GOLS certified organic latex foam that is precision cut to cradle your body and sink you into deeper release than any standard mat. The cover is 100% GOTS certified organic cotton, soft enough to lie on for hours, wrapped in rounded corners, piped seams, and a discreet YKK zip. Handcrafted in India with a Fairtrade certified partner. Backed by a 5 year warranty, and free access to the Shakti Shala app, which eases you through the first sessions and guides your practice.

Outer: 100% GOTS certified organic cotton. Spikes: ABS first class, non toxic plastic. Inner: GOLS certified organic latex Blissfoam. Length 29.13 in, width 15.75 in, height 0.79 in, weight 2 lbs 9 oz.

How to Take It

i.

Lie back on the mat with it positioned under your back and shoulders. The most popular way to use it is in bed, before sleep. For the first few minutes, focus on your breath as the initial sensation activates. Within five minutes, the sharpness fades into a warm, relaxing sensation and your muscles begin to release. Use for 10 to 20 minutes. Beginners may start with light clothing between the mat and skin, progressing to direct skin contact as they adjust. Redness afterward is a normal sign of increased circulation. Download the free Shakti Shala app for a welcome series that eases you through the initial discomfort and guided sessions to deepen your practice. To clean, remove the Blissfoam and hand wash the cotton cover in warm soapy water with a soft brush over the spikes, rinse, and hang to dry in the shade. Store out of direct sunlight. Keep out of reach of pets and children.

Twenty minutes. Thousands of spikes. Hundreds of pressure points. One of the oldest healing tools in the world, handcrafted with organic materials and backed by 5,142 five star reviews. The ancient bed of nails that thousands of modern people now cannot fall asleep without. Push through the first two minutes. The rest takes care of itself.

Frequently Asked.

How long should I lie on the mat to feel a benefit?

Most people start with around 10 minutes and work up to 20 to 30 minutes per session. The initial sensation of sharpness typically eases within a few minutes as the nervous system adjusts.

Is it safe to use if I have sensitive or thin skin?

Those with sensitive skin, skin conditions, or impaired sensation should approach with caution and consult their GP before use. Starting over a thin layer of clothing can help reduce the intensity for first-time users.

Can I use it every day?

Daily use is common and generally well tolerated. Check the product instructions for any specific guidance on frequency.

Does the Premium version differ from a standard acupressure mat?

The Premium designation typically refers to spike density, disc quality, and base cushioning, all of which affect comfort and longevity. Confirm the specific specifications on the product packaging.

Can children use the Shakti Mat?

Acupressure mats are generally designed for adult use. Consult the product instructions or a healthcare professional before allowing children to use it.

My evening wind-down essential

I was sceptical at first — lying on what's essentially a bed of spikes sounded more medieval than relaxing. But after the first week I was genuinely hooked. I do about 20 minutes on it after work and the tension I carry across my shoulders just... releases. Sleep has been noticeably easier too. Worth every penny.

Brilliant for post-run recovery

Started using this during half marathon training and it's become a staple. I lay on it for 15–20 mins after long runs and my lower back recovers so much faster. Feels almost meditative once you get past the initial sting.

Great mat, just wish the carry bag was sturdier

The mat itself is excellent — I use it every evening before bed and it genuinely helps me switch off. My only gripe is that the carry bag that came with it started fraying at the zip after about three weeks of daily use. Not a dealbreaker, but for £86 I'd expect something a bit more durable.

Does exactly what it says. 15 minutes before bed and I'm noticeably calmer. Recommend to anyone who works a desk job.

T

Swapped my foam roller for this

I used to rely on a foam roller for recovery but this is so much more passive — I just lie there and let it do the work. Lower back tightness after long days at the office has reduced a lot. Took a week or so to get used to the sensation but now I actually look forward to it.

RH

Genuinely surprised

A friend recommended this after I mentioned struggling to switch off at night. I was unconvinced but gave it a go. After about ten days of consistent use — 20 minutes lying on it in the evening — I noticed a real difference in how quickly I fall asleep. The quality feels solid too, nothing cheap about it.
