About This Product.

Biotin is a water-soluble B vitamin — B7 — that plays a central role in keratin production, the structural protein that makes up hair, skin, and nails. This supplement provides 5000mcg per capsule, a dose commonly used when dietary intake or absorption is insufficient to meet the body's needs.

Most people get some biotin from food, but deficiency — or functional insufficiency — is more common than often assumed, particularly in people with poor gut absorption, those who consume raw egg whites regularly, or those in pregnancy. Symptoms can include thinning hair, brittle nails, and dry or flaky skin. A blood test can confirm low levels, though biotin status is not routinely checked on standard panels.

This supplement suits anyone who has noticed changes in hair density, nail integrity, or skin texture and wants to address a potential nutritional gap. It is also used by people in periods of higher physiological demand — postpartum recovery, for instance, or prolonged caloric restriction. Biotin at this dose is generally well tolerated, as excess is excreted in urine given its water-soluble nature.

One important clinical note: high-dose biotin supplementation is known to interfere with several common laboratory assays, including thyroid function tests and troponin measurements. If you are having blood tests, inform your clinician that you are taking biotin and consider pausing it for a few days beforehand.

How to Take It

i.

Take one capsule daily, ideally with a meal to support absorption. Follow the dosage guidance on the packaging. If you are scheduled for blood tests, speak to your clinician before continuing supplementation, as high-dose biotin can interfere with certain assays.

Frequently Asked.

Who is most likely to benefit from a biotin supplement?

People with dietary gaps, poor gut absorption, or increased physiological demand — such as postpartum women or those on prolonged calorie restriction — are most likely to benefit. Changes in hair thickness, brittle nails, or dry skin can all be signs of insufficient biotin status.

Does biotin actually help with hair growth?

Biotin supports the production of keratin, the structural protein in hair. There is reasonable evidence that correcting a deficiency can improve hair quality and reduce shedding, though it is unlikely to dramatically accelerate growth in someone who is not deficient.

Can I take this alongside other supplements or medications?

Biotin is water-soluble and generally considered safe alongside most supplements and medications. That said, always check with your GP or pharmacist if you are on any prescribed treatments, particularly thyroid medication, as biotin can affect how certain lab results are interpreted.

Will high-dose biotin interfere with my blood tests?

Yes — this is clinically important. Biotin at 5000mcg can interfere with several common laboratory assays, including thyroid function tests and cardiac troponin tests. Let your clinician know you are taking it and consider pausing supplementation for a few days before any scheduled blood work.

How long before I notice a difference?

Hair and nail changes are slow by biology — most people allow at least eight to twelve weeks before assessing results. Consistency matters more than speed here.

Nails are noticeably stronger

Started taking these about three months ago after my nails kept splitting and peeling no matter what I did. Within six weeks I noticed they were growing longer without breaking — genuinely hadn't managed that in years. Hair feels thicker too, though that's harder to measure. Easy to swallow, no aftertaste. Will keep reordering.

Postpartum must-have

My GP mentioned biotin after I flagged how much hair I was losing about four months postpartum. Been taking one capsule daily for two months now and the shedding has slowed down a lot. I did read about the blood test interference and mentioned it to my midwife — good to know in advance. Really pleased I found these.

Good product, wish the pot were bigger

Does what it says — my nails have definitely hardened up after about six weeks. Only gripe is the bottle only has 60 capsules, so you're reordering every two months. Would much rather a 120 or 180 count option at a slightly better unit price. The capsules themselves are fine, no smell, easy to take. Would still recommend.

Swapped from a cheaper supermarket version and the difference in nail strength after a couple of months was pretty clear. Hard to say if it's the dose or the quality but either way I'm sticking with these.

Quietly effective

I wasn't expecting dramatic results but after about eight weeks I noticed my hairdresser commented that my hair looked denser around the crown — that's where I'd been losing volume. I take it every morning with breakfast. Nothing fancy but it seems to be doing its job.

Finally remembered to review this

Been taking these for the better part of a year now. Started because my diet was all over the place during a prolonged calorie deficit and my nails were in a terrible state. They're now consistently strong and my skin is less dry too, though I can't attribute that entirely to biotin. Good value for what it is.
