Super EPA Pro is a high-potency fish oil concentrate from Thorne, formulated with a notably elevated ratio of EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid) relative to DHA. EPA is the omega-3 fatty acid most studied for its role in supporting cardiovascular function and managing the inflammatory processes that underlie a range of chronic conditions. It is also the form of omega-3 that research most consistently associates with mood regulation and cognitive resilience, particularly in the context of low dietary fish intake or elevated inflammatory load.
This product suits people who have been advised to increase their omega-3 intake following a lipid panel or cardiovascular review, those in demanding training blocks where tissue inflammation is a recurring issue, or individuals whose diet is low in oily fish. The high EPA concentration means fewer softgels are needed to reach a meaningful intake compared to standard fish oil products.
Thorne is a brand with a long-standing clinical reputation, and their manufacturing standards are among the more rigorous in the supplement category. Fish oil quality varies considerably across the market — oxidation, purity, and molecular form all affect both efficacy and tolerability. Choosing a concentrate from a brand with consistent quality controls matters here more than in many other supplement categories.
Concentrated EPA from fish oil

Take 2 softgels twice daily, as directed on the packaging. Fish oil softgels are generally better tolerated and absorbed when taken with a meal containing some fat. Splitting the dose across two meals may reduce any aftertaste.
Standard fish oils often contain a fairly even split of EPA and DHA. Where the clinical need is specifically cardiovascular support or mood regulation, EPA is the more relevant fraction. A concentrated EPA product lets you reach a meaningful intake without a large softgel burden.
Omega-3 fatty acids accumulate in cell membranes gradually. Most research that shows measurable effects on lipid markers or inflammatory indicators runs over eight to twelve weeks of consistent use. Mood-related benefits may take a similar timeframe.
High-dose fish oil has a mild anticoagulant effect and may interact with anticoagulants such as warfarin or antiplatelet drugs. If you are on any blood-thinning medication, speak to your GP or prescriber before starting this or any high-dose omega-3 supplement.
People with a fish or shellfish allergy should avoid fish-derived omega-3 supplements. Those scheduled for surgery are typically advised to pause high-dose omega-3 intake beforehand — check with your clinical team for specific guidance.
It can. Triglyceride-form omega-3s are generally considered more bioavailable, particularly when taken with food. Check the packaging for the specific molecular form used in this product, as formulations can differ even within a brand's range.

Switched to this after my GP flagged my triglycerides at a routine check. Been on it about ten weeks and the difference in how I feel day-to-day is real — less joint stiffness in the mornings, better mood generally. No fishy burps either, which was always my issue with the supermarket brands.

I've tried so many omega-3 supplements and they all gave me that awful aftertaste. These don't. Take them with my evening meal and genuinely forget I've had them. Three months in and my skin looks better too — though that could be coincidental.

Recommended by my cardiologist after a lipid review. She was specific about wanting a high-EPA formula and this ticked every box. Quality feels noticeably higher than anything I'd bought on my own before.

Running high mileage for a half marathon block and inflammation was becoming a real issue — tight quads that just wouldn't settle. Added these about six weeks before race day and recovery between sessions genuinely improved. Hard to isolate one variable but I'm keeping them in.

I have no doubt this is a quality product — no oxidised smell when you open the bottle, which tells you a lot. The EPA levels are what I was after following some blood work. Only reason it's four stars is the softgels are genuinely large. I can get them down fine but it's not ideal first thing in the morning.
A blood test is the only way to know what your body actually needs. We’ll tell you which of these supplements is right for you.
