Health benefits for AI and software teams
AI and software teams need care that reaches people wherever they work, with a doctor the same day and mental health care that founders and engineers can use directly. One membership that grows with the company, in each city where it hires, gives that care and keeps a fast-moving company simple to run.
- What it costs
- Team membership from £9,500 per person a year, leaders from £28,500, each with a quote.
- How soon
- Founders can start in one morning, the whole team within 10 days.

What technology teams need from health care
Technology teams need care that follows the person, because the team is rarely in one place. Official statistics for Great Britain show that businesses in the information and communication industry had the highest share of hybrid working of any industry, at 49% [1].
Mental health is where most of the need sits. The World Health Organization estimates that 16% of working-age adults had a mental disorder in 2023 [2]. For a team that works long hours on hard problems, care that can be reached in minutes, by video or in person, is the benefit people notice first.
What the research shows about founders
Founders carry a load that the research is only beginning to describe. In a study of 242 entrepreneurs, mental health differences directly or indirectly affected 72% of them, and 32% reported two or more conditions [3]. The sample was small and the answers were self-reported, though the pattern is consistent with what founders tell their own doctors.
A systematic review of 144 studies concluded that the wellbeing of entrepreneurs needs to be understood on its own terms, using models built for them [4]. In practice that means a doctor who knows the founder well enough to see the whole picture, including sleep and the pressure of the next round.
Health care for a company that is hiring fast
A company that doubles each year needs a benefit that adds people without new paperwork. Each new hire should be covered from their first week, in whichever city they join, under the same membership as the founders.
Managers in a growing company carry the most change. A global workplace survey found that manager engagement fell by five points between 2024 and 2025, from 27% to 22% [5]. A first-time manager who can arrange care for a struggling colleague in minutes is a stronger manager.
A company of a few dozen people rarely needs a separate plan in each country. It needs a doctor the same day and mental health care people can reach directly, with a simple way to add each new hire. Founders often start first, in one morning, and the rest of the team follows within 10 days.
As the company grows into new countries, the same membership extends with it. Outside the United States it takes the place of national plans at each renewal, so the people team never has to rebuild benefits from the beginning.
Remote and travelling teams
Sales and research teams spend long stretches away from home. A study of medical records found that people travelling for work 21 or more nights a month were more likely to report trouble sleeping and symptoms of anxiety and depression [6].
The answer is care that travels with the person, so a researcher at a conference in Tokyo or a sales lead in New York reaches the same concierge and the same record they use at home.
Care in the cities where technology teams work
Technology companies cluster in a handful of cities, and our 13 cities include the ones where most AI and software teams hire, from San Francisco and New York to London, Paris, Singapore and Tokyo. A company with engineers in London and a go-to-market team in San Francisco holds one membership for both.
Sydney, Dubai, Hong Kong and Miami are covered in the same way, so a company opening its next office does not open a new health plan with it.
A checklist for a technology company choosing health benefits
Ask these questions of any partner you consider, ourselves included.
- Is a new hire covered from their first week, in any of the cities where you hire?
- Can people reach a doctor the same day by video, wherever they are working?
- Can founders and engineers reach a psychiatrist or psychologist directly, without asking the company?
- Are families covered by the same membership?
- Does the company see anonymised reporting only, with small groups left out?
- Does one invoice cover every country, renewed once a year?
What The Wellness for teams gives a technology company
The Wellness for teams is one membership for the whole company, with founders and their families included, and it holds inpatient and outpatient care, dental care, diagnostics and health programmes in 13 cities. A concierge arranges everything, and the company receives one invoice, renewed once a year. Outside the United States it takes the place of national plans at renewal, and in the United States it is the global layer above the medical plan.
The company sees anonymised reporting only, with small groups left out, under a data processing agreement. Founders can start in one morning and the whole team within 10 days. Nobody is refused care, and care beyond the plan is billed at the published fee. Our doctors are registered with the General Medical Council, and care is delivered through registered partner clinics and accredited laboratories.
Questions
What health benefits should a startup offer?
A startup is best served by one membership that covers every new hire from their first week, in any city, with a doctor the same day and mental health care people can reach directly.
Are founders more likely to have mental health conditions?
In a study of 242 entrepreneurs, mental health differences directly or indirectly affected 72% of them, though the sample was small and the answers were self-reported [3].
How do we cover a remote team in several countries?
One membership covers people in each of our 13 cities and by video wherever they work, with one invoice, so a remote team holds one arrangement in place of a plan in each country.
Does frequent travel affect the health of tech teams?
A study of medical records linked travelling 21 or more nights a month with trouble sleeping and symptoms of anxiety and depression [6].
