Vista Health is the cheaper choice for a single scan, from about £250 against our £795. If a doctor has already told you which part of your body needs imaging and you only need the pictures and the report, Vista is the sensible purchase. For a full body scan, Vista's Silver tier at £765 covers the brain, abdomen and pelvis, and Phoenix Hospital Group at £1,995 includes two radiologists and a GP before and after.

Message us with your symptoms or what you want checked, and a clinician will tell you which scan fits, or whether you need one at all. Messages are usually answered within minutes.

Unexpected findings are common. In a review of 32 studies of more than 27,000 adults without symptoms, 3.9% of brain and body MRI scans showed a potentially serious incidental finding, and about half of those were suspected cancers. Gibson and colleagues, Potentially serious incidental findings on brain and body MRI of apparently asymptomatic adults, systematic review and meta-analysis, BMJ, 2018
What happens after such a finding is not well known. The same review concluded that little is known of the health consequences, and called for long term follow-up studies. Gibson and colleagues, Potentially serious incidental findings on brain and body MRI of apparently asymptomatic adults, systematic review and meta-analysis, BMJ, 2018
Radiologists are cautious about scanning people with no symptoms. The American College of Radiology said in April 2023 that it does not believe there is enough evidence to recommend total body screening for people without symptoms, risk factors or a relevant family history. American College of Radiology, statement on screening total body MRI, 17 April 2023
At The Wellness a scan is part of your medical care. You can book without a GP referral, and if you have a specific symptom a short consultation first confirms which scan you need. A consultant radiologist who specialises in that part of the body reports every scan within 24 to 48 hours, and urgent findings reach you the same day. If anything is found, a physician explains it and arranges the next step, and the report can go to your own doctor with your consent. A full body MRI from £2,500 includes the physician consultation to go through the findings.
A single area MRI costs from about £250 at Vista Health and from £795 at The Wellness. Cromwell Hospital publishes a guide price from £1,305. HCA Healthcare UK and The London Clinic quote by phone. We read each price on the provider's own website on 12 October 2026.
