At The Wellness an initial consultation with a consultant paediatrician is £350 by secure video or £395 in person, and lasts 45 minutes. A follow-up is £295 by video or £340 in person, over 30 minutes. Across London, initial consultations generally run between £200 and £360 in person. Prescriptions and referral letters issued during your appointment are included; tests, imaging and vaccines are quoted separately before anything is done.

The £45 difference is the physical examination and the room. The consultation is the same length either way and the consultant’s time and thinking are the same, so the difference reflects only what is added. It is not a discount on the video appointment.

No. You can book directly without a referral. Bring one if you have it, because it carries your child’s history, but it is not required. If you plan to claim on private medical insurance, check with your insurer first. Most require a named referral for a child aged seventeen or under and will not accept an open referral.

Most families are offered a first appointment within the same week, in person or by secure video. If your child is seriously unwell now, this is not the right service. Call 999 or go to your nearest emergency department, and use 111 for urgent advice out of hours.

A video consultation is a full appointment, not a triage call: 45 minutes for an initial consultation at £350, taken from home, from school or from another country. Where an examination would change what we advise, we say so during the appointment and bring your child in.

Most of a paediatric assessment is history rather than examination. Over video the consultant can take that history in full, review growth charts and results, watch how your child moves, breathes, feeds or interacts, reach a working diagnosis, prescribe and refer. What video cannot do is palpate an abdomen, feel a lump, examine ears and throats, or listen to a chest, so when those matter, we bring you in.

Allow 45 minutes. The consultant takes a full history, plots growth, weight and head circumference on UK-WHO centile charts, and examines your child if you have come in person. You leave with a written plan the same day, including any prescription or onward referral needed, and your GP is notified with your consent.

Request an initial consultation and send what you have, clinic letters, results, scans and your own notes. It is a full 45-minute assessment in its own right, with an independent view given in writing. You are told plainly where we agree with the original opinion as well as where we do not.

Yes. Follow-ups are with the consultant who saw your child first. Continuity is most of the value in paediatrics. The person who examined your child at the start is the one who can tell what has actually changed.

You are given an itemised receipt suitable for a claim. Cover varies by policy, so check your eligibility with your insurer before booking, and ask specifically about the named-referral requirement for under-eighteens.

Prescriptions are issued during the appointment where they are clinically appropriate, at no extra charge. Reports and letters requested after your appointment, for a school, for a nursery, or for another clinician, are quoted separately.
