Is Hair PRP Worth It? | The London PRP Clinic by The Wellness

PRP can be worth considering for early or moderate pattern hair loss when you still have active follicles and want a medical treatment plan with measured follow up. It is not a guaranteed way to regrow hair, and it is poor value if the cause of your loss has not been diagnosed. At The London PRP Clinic by The Wellness, the decision starts with whether your scalp is likely to benefit, not with selling a course.
What PRP can realistically achieve
PRP uses a concentrated part of your own blood, injected into the scalp. Studies report improvements in hair density in some people with pattern hair loss. A visible change is not certain, and PRP cannot create new follicles in a smooth bald area. It is not a permanent cure for a condition that can keep progressing.
A useful treatment plan sets a baseline with comparable photographs and agrees when to review the result. Less shedding is not the same measure as increased density. Ask which outcome matters for your case and how it will be assessed.

What the evidence does and does not show
The American Academy of Dermatology lists PRP as an option for hair loss that requires repeat treatment. A 2023 network meta analysis compared PRP, minoxidil and microneedling using hair density at 24 weeks. Minoxidil with microneedling performed better than PRP alone in that analysis. Study differences and indirect comparisons limit what this tells us about your individual result.
PRP should therefore be discussed alongside established medical options, not presented as automatically better than medication. Your preferences, contraindications, side effects and willingness to continue treatment all matter. Microneedling alone is not a proven replacement for every PRP plan either.
How many sessions before visible change?
A common starting schedule is three sessions about a month apart, followed by a review. The American Academy of Dermatology describes monthly treatment for three months and subsequent sessions every three to six months. Your schedule may differ. Visible density changes take months, not days, and there is no number of injections that guarantees regrowth.
Agree a review around four to six months using photographs taken under comparable lighting and positioning. If there is no useful response, review the diagnosis and alternatives rather than automatically buying more sessions.
What does hair PRP cost?
At the upper end of the London market, Harley Street Skin Clinic lists hair PRP with a lead doctor at £900 per session or £2,440 for three. These are provider tier prices, not proof of an identical protocol or a better outcome. Published prices were checked in October 2026. Hair PRP is £450 per session at The London PRP Clinic by The Wellness. A course of three is £1,215, a 10 percent saving compared with three individual sessions. Ask for the total cost of the proposed plan, including any separate tests, medication and maintenance, before booking.

How to choose a reliable scalp PRP clinic
Choose a clinic that examines your scalp, explains other treatments, names the professional who will perform the procedure privately at consultation, discusses risks and gives written aftercare. Ask about preparation, sterile technique, pain relief and the review process. No clinic can honestly guarantee your biological response.
The London PRP Clinic is part of The Wellness and offers medical assessment before treatment. Contact us to discuss whether PRP is an appropriate next step for you.
Preparing for treatment and aftercare
Tell the clinician about medicines, allergies, bleeding problems and recent illness. Do not stop prescribed medicines on your own. Ask what pain relief is proposed, when you can wash your hair and what to do if you develop unexpected symptoms. You should have written advice and a contact route after treatment.
Soreness or bruising can happen after a blood draw or scalp injection. Increasing pain, spreading redness, fever or discharge needs medical advice. A clinic should explain the risks without describing your own blood as a guarantee of safety.
Questions before choosing a course
Can a clinic guarantee regrowth? No. A biological response cannot be guaranteed. Ask how lack of response is handled and when the diagnosis and plan will be reviewed.
Is less shedding proof that hair has regrown? No. Shedding, density and appearance are different measures. Agree which matters to you and compare photographs under similar conditions.
Do I need a course before I know my diagnosis? No. Establish the likely cause and whether the proposed treatment fits it before buying a course. A fixed package should not replace a medical assessment.
Will I need maintenance? Possibly. The underlying condition can continue, so discuss ongoing treatment and its costs. Do not assume that a larger number of injections guarantees a better result.
