Signs of Low Testosterone: Do You Need TRT?

Tired, Flat and Not Yourself? It Might Be Your Testosterone

Testosterone does far more than most men realise. It underpins energy, muscle mass, mood, concentration, libido, bone strength and even how well you sleep. Levels peak in early adulthood and then decline slowly, roughly 1% a year from your thirties onwards. For some men that decline is steeper, and the symptoms start to bite.

The trouble is that low testosterone rarely announces itself. It creeps in, and it's easy to blame everything else: work, stress, age, poor sleep.

The signs worth paying attention to

Low testosterone (sometimes called "low T" or hypogonadism) can show up as:

  • Persistent fatigue and low energy, even after rest

  • Reduced sex drive or erectile difficulties

  • Low mood, irritability or a flatter emotional range

  • Difficulty concentrating — the classic "brain fog"

  • Loss of muscle mass and strength despite training

  • Increased body fat, particularly around the middle

  • Poor sleep and reduced motivation

One or two of these on their own don't confirm anything. But a cluster of them, especially if they've built up gradually, is worth investigating properly.

How low testosterone is diagnosed

The only way to know is to test. At The Wellness, diagnosis starts with a consultation and a blood panel measuring your testosterone alongside the related markers that give the full picture. We don't treat on symptoms alone, and we don't treat on a single borderline result — a proper diagnosis means the right tests, interpreted in the context of how you actually feel.

What treatment looks like

Where TRT is clinically appropriate, we typically use Nebido, a long-acting testosterone injection that keeps your levels stable for 10 to 14 weeks per dose. Treatment is monitored throughout, including keeping an eye on your red blood cell count so we can arrange venesection if it's ever needed.

If this sounds familiar, don't put it down to age. Book a men's health consultation with The Wellness and find out what's actually going on.
