Christmas Skin Plan London 2026. When To Start

By Sama Samy9 min read

Regenerative skin treatments work by prompting your skin to repair and build collagen, which takes weeks, not days. A PRP facial course is usually 3 sessions 4 to 6 weeks apart, with results building over 2 to 3 months. Polynucleotides are typically 2 to 3 sessions 2 to 4 weeks apart. That means the time to start for Christmas parties and New Year is mid-October to early November. Leave it to December and you will see the start of the change, not the finished result.

Key points

  • A 2026 meta-analysis of 17 studies and 1,111 participants found adding PRP to microneedling made an excellent result for acne scars about 3 times more likely than microneedling alone.

  • A 2024 systematic review of polynucleotide skin boosters found improvement in skin quality across 9 studies and 219 patients, with low to moderate quality evidence and typical protocols of 2 to 3 sessions 2 to 4 weeks apart.

  • PRP and polynucleotides improve skin quality, texture and tone. They do not add volume or lift loose skin, so a doctor should first decide whether your concern is quality, volume or structure.

  • At The London PRP Clinic by The Wellness, a PRP facial with microneedling is £525 per session, polynucleotides are from £445 and under-eye PRP is from £495.

Why timing matters

Skin repairs on its own schedule

Microneedling and PRP trigger a controlled repair response, and polynucleotides support the cells that make collagen. New collagen forms gradually over weeks and keeps maturing for months. The first session starts the process, the second and third build on it, and the visible result arrives after the course.

Downtime

PRP facials with microneedling usually leave the skin pink for 1 to 3 days. Polynucleotides and under-eye injections can cause small bumps or bruising for a few days. Planning ahead means none of this falls in the week of a party.

Your week-by-week plan

Mid-October to early November. Assess and start

Have a doctor-led skin assessment to decide what will help and what will not. Begin your first PRP facial or polynucleotide session.

Mid-November. Second session

Your second session builds on the first. This is often when people first notice a difference in texture and glow.

Early December. Final session

The final session of a 3-session PRP course, or a second or third polynucleotide session, with enough time for any redness to settle.

Mid to late December. Results

Skin quality continues to improve into the New Year. Avoid new treatments in the last 1 to 2 weeks before a major event.

Which treatment for which concern

Dull, tired skin and fine texture

A PRP facial with microneedling improves texture, tone and glow, and it has the strongest evidence for acne scarring. See PRP facial London.

Crepey skin and early lines

Polynucleotides support skin quality and are popular for crepey areas and early lines, though the evidence is earlier and smaller than for PRP.

Dark, hollow or tired under-eyes

Under-eye PRP and polynucleotides improve the thin skin under the eyes. A true hollow or tear trough may need a different approach. See PRP under the eyes, polynucleotides under the eyes and tear trough treatment.

Volume loss after weight loss

Regenerative treatments improve skin quality but do not replace lost volume. Our guide is Ozempic face treatment, and the difference between quality, volume and structure is explained in skin quality, volume and structure.

Hair for the season too

Hair responds more slowly than skin, with visible change at 3 to 6 months, so a course started now pays off in the spring. See PRP hair package London.

Before you book

A doctor should assess your skin first and tell you honestly what each treatment can and cannot do. Avoid any treatment if you have an active skin infection or cold sore in the area, are pregnant, or have a bleeding disorder, without discussing it first. If you are planning around a wedding rather than Christmas, see the wedding skin and hair timeline.

Why people choose The London PRP Clinic by The Wellness

Every treatment is performed by a GMC-registered doctor, and no clinician treats a patient here until they have completed 100 supervised treatments. We assess whether your concern is skin quality, volume or structure before recommending anything, and we tell you plainly when a treatment will not give you the result you want. Diaries fill quickly from November, so earlier appointments give the most room to complete a course before Christmas. We see patients at 10 Portman Square in Marylebone and the Light Centre in Belgravia, and report more than 187 five-star reviews.

Frequently asked questions about skin treatment before Christmas

When should I start PRP facials before Christmas?

Ideally by mid-October to early November. A course is usually 3 sessions 4 to 6 weeks apart, with results building over 2 to 3 months.

How long before an event should I have polynucleotides?

Typical courses are 2 to 3 sessions 2 to 4 weeks apart, so starting 6 to 8 weeks before an event gives time to complete the course and let any small bumps settle.

How long does redness last after a PRP facial?

Usually 1 to 3 days. Avoid booking a final session in the last 1 to 2 weeks before a major event.

Does a PRP facial work for acne scars?

Yes. A 2026 meta-analysis of 17 studies found adding PRP to microneedling made an excellent result for acne scars about 3 times more likely.

Can PRP or polynucleotides add volume?

No. They improve skin quality, texture and tone. Volume loss needs a different approach, which a doctor can advise on.

How much does a PRP facial cost in London?

At The London PRP Clinic by The Wellness, a PRP facial with microneedling is £525 per session, with a course of 3 priced at 10 percent off booking individually.
