Only registered dental professionals can legally whiten teeth in the UK. Offering whitening without registration is a criminal offence, as the court confirmed in GDC v Jamous in 2013. A dentist may use hydrogen peroxide at a strength of up to 6%, according to the General Dental Council, 2026.
