What does an ADHD assessment cost in London?
Published fees for an adult assessment in London run from about £745 by video to £1,200 in person. Harley Street Mental Health publishes £745 by video and £1,200 in person at 10 Harley Street. Harley Mind Care publishes £800 by video, and £2,300 where ADHD and autism are assessed together.
An assessment at The Wellness is £1,250 by video, or £1,500 in person in Harley Street. That is above what most London clinics charge for a video assessment, and what the fee includes is the reason. It covers 90 minutes with a consultant psychiatrist rather than a shorter appointment, the written report, your first prescription if treatment is agreed, and a letter to your GP asking for shared care. Several clinics charge for the report separately, so check what is included before you compare figures.
Two things affect what the first year costs. The number of appointments needed to settle a dose, and whether your GP takes over prescribing afterwards. Both are explained further down this page.

What happens at your assessment
We send you rating scales to complete, and ask whether someone who knew you as a child is willing to answer a short set of questions. That is useful and it is not required, and an assessment goes ahead without it.
A structured diagnostic assessment against current criteria, a developmental and psychiatric history, and the scales gone through properly rather than collected. Physical health as well, because it decides what can safely be offered.
The diagnosis where there is one, the evidence behind it, and what follows. Written so an employer or a university can act on it. Where the answer is that you do not have ADHD, the report says what does explain what you have noticed.
Where medication is agreed, your consultant starts it and settles the dose, checking blood pressure, pulse and weight as they go. Most people need 2 to 4 titration reviews. Once it is steady we write to your GP and ask them to take over routine prescribing.

Should you choose video or in person?
Most assessments here are done by video, and a video assessment is a full assessment. It uses the same criteria, takes the same 90 minutes with the same consultant, and produces the same report. It is what most people choose.
What a video appointment cannot do is measure your blood pressure, pulse and weight. Those checks matter once medication is being considered, because treatment affects all three. An in person assessment in Harley Street is £1,500 and takes them in the room. If you choose video and treatment is agreed, you can bring recent readings or come in once to have them taken.
Some people also find a developmental history easier to give face to face. If you are not sure which suits you, tell us when you enquire and we will say what we would suggest.

Ask for answers to the last two in writing before you pay. There is no cure for ADHD. Treatment makes it easier to live with, and an assessment tells you whether ADHD is what you are dealing with.
