What each clinic does well

HOOKE offers the most complete ongoing relationship we found. Members have a doctor relationship manager, monthly check-ins, 24/7 GP access and a multidisciplinary team, and every tier is priced on its website.

HUM2N is the most accessible way into a structured twelve month programme. It publishes monthly prices, tests more than 150 biomarkers and repeats the testing at six months, at two London clinics.

Echelon Health has the deepest single day of imaging we found, with MRI angiography, CT coronary angiography and virtual colonoscopy in one day on Harley Street, and every scan listed.

Lanserhof at The Arts Club combines medical specialists, an MRI scanner on site, recovery therapies and a members’ club in one Mayfair building, and is open to non-members.

When another clinic is the right choice

HUM2N costs less to start, at £495 a month plus a one-off £995, and suits someone who wants regular testing and a programme manager more than imaging. If you want a doctor on call all year as well as the tests, HOOKE's membership from £14,550 a year is built around that. If you want one day of very detailed imaging and no ongoing programme, Echelon Health's Platinum assessment at £14,000 includes more imaging in a single day than our programmes do.

Ask about longevity

Questions to ask any longevity clinic

  • Who designs my plan, and how often will I see them?
  • Which measurements are repeated, and how often?
  • What will each test change about my plan?
  • What happens if a scan finds something unexpected?
  • What does the price cover for the whole year, and what costs extra?

How to read a longevity price

Separate a one-day assessment from a year-long programme. Echelon Health sells a single day for £14,000, and HOOKE and HUM2N sell a relationship over a year.

Add up monthly prices for the year. HUM2N’s Foundations programme is £495 a month plus a one-off £995.

Check what is an add-on. HOOKE lists MRI as an add-on to its memberships.

What the evidence says

Fitness is among the strongest predictors of a long life. In 122,007 adults who had a treadmill test, higher cardiorespiratory fitness was linked to lower long-term mortality, with no upper limit of benefit observed. Mandsager and colleagues, Association of cardiorespiratory fitness with long-term mortality among adults undergoing exercise treadmill testing, JAMA Network Open, 2018

UK guidelines advise adults to do at least 150 minutes of moderate activity a week, or 75 minutes of vigorous activity, and to build strength on at least two days a week. UK Chief Medical Officers’ physical activity guidelines, 2019

Testing alone does not lengthen life. A Cochrane review of 17 trials found that general health checks have little or no effect on deaths from all causes or from cancer. Krogsbøll, Jørgensen and Gøtzsche, General health checks in adults for reducing morbidity and mortality from disease, Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews, 2019

Scans find things that need follow-up. In adults without symptoms, 3.9% of brain and body MRI scans showed a potentially serious incidental finding. Gibson and colleagues, Potentially serious incidental findings on brain and body MRI of apparently asymptomatic adults, systematic review and meta-analysis, BMJ, 2018

Warning signs at any clinic

  • A promise to reverse your age or add years to your life.
  • Supplements or hormones prescribed without a blood test and a doctor’s review.
  • Tests that are never repeated, so there is no way to see whether the plan works.
  • No doctor responsible for your plan.

How a longevity programme at The Wellness works

A physician runs your programme at The Wellness, orders your tests, reads every result and writes your roadmap. Longevity Foundation measures where you are now, with a full body MRI, a metabolic and hormone panel, DEXA and VO2max. Longevity Elevation adds cardiac CT, cognitive testing and NAD+ IV twice a year. Longevity Echelon repeats the MRI and DEXA every quarter and includes 12 consultations with your physician. You can start with a video consultation with a longevity physician, to choose the programme that fits.

Some do. All three programmes at The Wellness include a full body MRI, and Longevity Echelon repeats it every quarter. HOOKE includes a full body MRI in its Investigation Itinerary+ from £13,500, and lists MRI as an add-on to its memberships.

HUM2N repeats its testing at six months. Longevity Echelon at The Wellness repeats the full body MRI and DEXA every quarter. HOOKE's memberships include monthly check-ins with a doctor relationship manager.
