What a private GP costs in London

The fee for a private GP depends on how long you have with the doctor and where you are seen. A short call costs least and a doctor who comes to you costs most, because the doctor’s time includes the travel.

These are our fees in London, read from the same list the booking page charges from.

  • Telephone consultation, 15 minutes, the same day, £59
  • Classic appointment, 30 minutes in person, from the next day, £150
  • Same day urgent appointment, 30 minutes in person, today, £220
  • Home or hotel visit, up to an hour with the doctor, £450

What each GP fee includes

Every GP fee includes the consultation itself and what the doctor does in it. A telephone consultation covers advice, prescriptions where they are appropriate, sick notes and follow-up guidance [1]. A classic or same day appointment adds a full examination, a diagnosis, a treatment plan and a referral to a specialist when you need one [1].

A home or hotel visit includes up to an hour with the doctor, examination and treatment in the room, prescriptions and referrals, and a receipt with a doctor’s letter written for your insurer [2]. Your notes, results and letters go into one record you can open from any country, at no extra charge.

Blood tests and the executive physical

Blood tests are priced as panels, and each fee includes the sample, the laboratory analysis and a doctor reading the results.

  • Core Wellness, £350, a full blood count, liver function, lipids, HbA1c, thyroid (TSH), hs-CRP, ferritin and vitamin D
  • Advanced Health, £650, everything in Core with a full thyroid profile, iron studies, fasting glucose and insulin, a hormone profile and PSA for men
  • Longevity+, £1,395, a full profile with ApoB, Lp(a), homocysteine, fasting insulin and advanced hormones, and a plan
  • The executive physical, £2,995, a full day with one physician, with advanced bloodwork, an ECG, body composition, results reviewed the same day and a written plan

What is billed separately

Some care sits outside a GP fee because it is given by someone else or costs a different amount for each person. A specialist consultant charges their own fee and medicine is charged at cost plus the pharmacy fee [3], while scans and further tests the doctor orders are priced on their own. At a home visit the same applies to blood tests and certificates [2].

You are told every figure before anything is arranged or a doctor is sent [3]. If the doctor suggests a specialist or a scan, you hear the fee and decide before it goes ahead.

The rules on showing private fees

Fee transparency in private healthcare has a regulator behind it. The Competition and Markets Authority investigated the private healthcare market, found problems with competition and set remedies, among them more information for patients on consultant fees [4].

Its Private Healthcare Market Investigation Order 2014 requires a consultant to tell you the estimated cost of an outpatient consultation before it happens, and before further tests or treatment to give an estimate of the consultant costs and a statement of what the estimate leaves out [5]. Consultants also send their fees to the Private Healthcare Information Network (PHIN), an independent, government mandated body that publishes information on the quality and costs of private care [6] [7].

By October 2025, 96% of consultants published their consultation fees for self-pay patients on the PHIN website [8], and in July 2026 the CMA confirmed that hospitals and consultants were complying with the transparency rules of the Order [7]. Before you see a private consultant in the UK, you can look up their fees there.

Questions to ask about any private fee

These questions work for any private clinic, and a clear clinic answers each of them before you pay.

  • What is the fee, and how long with the doctor does it buy?
  • Are prescriptions, sick notes and referral letters included?
  • Which tests, scans or medicines would be charged on top?
  • Will I be told the price of anything extra before it is done?
  • Is a follow-up appointment charged, and at what fee?
  • Do I receive a receipt my insurer will accept?

How The Wellness can help

Our clinics are on Baker Street in Marylebone and Eccleston Street in Belgravia, open from seven in the morning to nine at night every day, and a doctor can come to your home or hotel anywhere in London. Every doctor is GMC registered, and regulated services are delivered through registered partner clinics and accredited laboratories.

If you see a doctor often, membership gathers this care into one yearly fee, and members take 10% off every listed price [9]. For one appointment, a GP appointment is £150 and the fee is the one you are told.

Questions

At The Wellness a telephone consultation is £59, a 30 minute appointment £150, a same day appointment £220 and a home or hotel visit £450 [1].
