A pelvic ultrasound shows the uterus, its lining, the ovaries and the bladder. At The Wellness in Marylebone it costs from £445, as pelvic ultrasound (transabdominal), with a report within 48 hours, often the same day and a doctor to explain the result.
A pelvic ultrasound shows the uterus, its lining, the ovaries and the bladder. It is done through the abdomen, and through the vagina where a closer view is needed and you agree to it.
It is used for pelvic pain, heavy or irregular periods, suspected fibroids or ovarian cysts, bleeding after the menopause, and in fertility planning.
For a scan through the abdomen, drink about a litre of water an hour before and do not empty your bladder. For a transvaginal scan the bladder should be empty.
Yes. Ask when you request the scan, and one is arranged.
It should not be. A full bladder can be uncomfortable for a few minutes, and a transvaginal scan feels like a smear test.
Choose the scan and a time, and the directions come with your confirmation. Or ring 020 3951 3429.
