PRP for Joints · Marylebone
Autologous, ultrasound-guided, alongside a loading programme
PRP joint treatment uses platelets concentrated from your own blood, injected under ultrasound guidance. It is used for mild-to-moderate knee osteoarthritis and certain tendon conditions, typically one to three sessions two to four weeks apart, at £650 a session.
The joint is examined before anything is injected: where the pain sits through the range of movement, what is tender, what the joint does under load. Where the answer changes what we do, diagnostic ultrasound happens in the same room.
A small blood sample is drawn, similar to a routine blood test. The volume depends on the joint and the protocol.
The sample is centrifuged to concentrate the platelets, and the platelet-rich layer is prepared for injection.
PRP is injected into the joint or around the tendon under ultrasound guidance, so the needle reaches the intended tissue. Rest for two to four days afterwards, avoiding strenuous activity.
Candidacy
PRP shows promise for mild-to-moderate knee osteoarthritis and chronic tendinopathy. It is offered as an addition to a supervised loading programme, because the evidence behind exercise is stronger than the evidence behind any injection.
It is not for severe arthritis, acute injuries or infection, and some assessments end without a needle. Where PRP is not the answer, we say so and what is.

A different product
The two are frequently confused. A corticosteroid injection is a single ultrasound-guided visit at £695 that settles inflammation for weeks rather than months and repairs nothing. PRP is prepared from your own blood and given as a course.
Any clinic or page that describes a platelet course as an ultrasound-guided injection is running the two together. Ask which one you are being sold, and at which price.
A consultation comes first. Package pricing available where a course is recommended: 3-session packages offer a 15% discount, completed within 12 months.

Every course begins with an assessment to confirm PRP fits the joint and sits alongside a programme that will hold the result. Book in a few minutes.

Yes. PRP is placed under ultrasound guidance so the needle reaches the intended tissue. A drug in the wrong tissue plane never had a chance, and the scan is part of the assessment rather than a decoration.
Rest for two to four days and avoid strenuous activity while the joint settles. The loading programme then resumes, because the programme is what an injection exists to make possible.
Typically one to three injections, two to four weeks apart, decided at the assessment. Some assessments end without a needle: where a loading programme deserves twelve weeks first, we say so rather than selling a course.
