Using your Bupa cover with a private GP in London
The Wellness sees Bupa members the same day in Marylebone and Belgravia, or at their hotel or home in London, and writes the report as each consultation ends. What Bupa pays for is set by the member’s own policy.

If you are a Bupa member
Whether a visit is covered depends on your policy. With your agreement we can ask Bupa for a guarantee of payment before you are seen. Where direct settlement is not in place, you pay at the visit and we give you an itemised invoice and medical report for your claim. Most Bupa policies pay for consultant care after a GP referral. Our GPs refer to consultants Bupa will fund, and we check the name with you before the letter is written.
For symptoms outside Bupa’s Direct Access service, Bupa asks you to see a GP first, and that is the appointment we give you the same day.

How Bupa works
Each line is read from Bupa’s own website, with the date we read it.
Bupa members with Direct Access can call Bupa directly about cancer, muscle, bone and joint or mental health symptoms, and may not need a GP referral.

Questions
Do I need a GP referral to use my Bupa cover?
For symptoms outside Bupa’s Direct Access service, yes. Bupa says to speak to a GP first. Cancer, muscle, bone and joint, and mental health symptoms may go straight to Bupa if your policy includes Direct Access.
Is open referral mandatory on my Bupa scheme?
On some personal, corporate and company schemes, Bupa says it is. If you are not sure, tell us your scheme and the GP writes an open referral, which suits every scheme.
When do I get the Bupa pre-authorisation code?
After you have seen the GP and contacted Bupa. The code goes to the specialist if Bupa covers the treatment.
Does Bupa pay for the GP appointment with you?
We have no agreement with Bupa. You pay at the visit and receive an itemised invoice and a report, and whether any of it can be claimed depends on your policy.
Can you see me at the office in the City?
Yes. A doctor can come to an office, home or hotel anywhere in London, or you can come to our Baker Street or Belgravia clinic.
