Using your WPA cover with a private GP in London

WPA recognises Dr Adel Elalfy, who leads primary care at The Wellness, as a GP. The Wellness sees WPA members the same day in Marylebone and Belgravia or at their hotel, and the report goes to the member and the case manager as soon as the consultation ends.

If you are a WPA member

WPA recognises Dr Adel Elalfy, who leads primary care at The Wellness, as a GP. Whether a visit is covered still depends on your policy, and we check it with you before you are seen. Where direct settlement is not in place, you pay at the visit and we give you an itemised invoice and medical report for your claim. Most WPA policies pay for consultant care after a GP referral. Our GPs refer to consultants WPA will fund, and we check the name with you before the letter is written.

WPA asks for the dates of your symptoms and the provider you want to see, which our GP’s letter gives in one page.

How WPA works

Each line is read from WPA’s own website, with the date we read it.

  • WPA says that if a GP feels you need tests or treatment, the GP will refer you and say what type of specialist to see.

    Source Checked

  • WPA asks members to set up a claim before any tests or treatment start, through the WPA Health app, My WPA or its helpdesk.

    Source Checked

  • To set up a claim, WPA asks for the dates and details of your symptoms and the name of the provider you wish to see.

    Source Checked

  • WPA members can use Remote GP Services by phone or video, and the GP can email an open private referral letter.

Questions

Does WPA cover a private GP appointment with you?

That depends on your WPA policy, and we check it with you before the appointment. If it does not, you pay at the visit and keep the itemised invoice and the report.

What does WPA need from my GP before I see a specialist?

WPA asks for the dates and details of your symptoms and the provider you want to see. Our GP’s referral letter sets out both, and WPA recognises Dr Adel Elalfy as a GP.

Can you refer me to a consultant WPA will fund?

Yes. Most WPA policies fund consultant care after a GP referral, and we check the consultant’s name against your policy with you before the letter goes.

I used WPA Remote GP. Can I still come to you?

Yes. Remote GP is by phone or video. If you want to be examined in person, or need a doctor at your home or hotel in London, we see you the same day where the diary allows.

How quickly is the referral letter ready?

Usually by the end of the appointment, and always the same day, so you can set up the WPA claim straight away.
