Every figure is a starting fee. You see the exact fee in writing at your assessment. Fees include VAT where it applies. Reschedule or cancel free up to 48 hours before. Inside 48 hours the fee is £85.
During teeth whitening, a GDC registered dentist first examines your teeth and gums. Your dentist then chooses a strength of whitening gel that suits your teeth.

Your dentist examines your teeth
Your dentist checks your teeth and gums and records their shade. If you are having take home whitening, your dentist takes a digital scan of your teeth to make your trays.
You have your teeth whitened
In the clinic, your dentist protects your gums and lips and whitens your teeth in an appointment of about 90 minutes. At home, you wear trays made to fit your mouth for two to three weeks.
Your dentist records your new shade
When you finish, your dentist records the shade of your teeth again. You keep your trays, so you can top up your shade later with more gel.
Teeth whitening is legal in the UK when a registered dental professional carries it out. The General Dental Council, which regulates dentists in the UK, allows only registered dental professionals to whiten teeth. Anyone who offers whitening without registration commits a criminal offence.
A court case, GDC v Jamous, confirmed this in 2013. The most common side effect of whitening is tooth sensitivity, and the strength of the gel affects how likely it is. Your dentist chooses a strength that suits your teeth.

For most people, results last one to two years. Coffee, tea, red wine and smoking can stain your teeth again sooner. If you have take home trays, you can top up your shade with more gel.
No, whitening only changes the colour of natural teeth. Crowns, veneers, bonding and fillings stay the colour they were made. Your dentist checks for them before you start, because you may need them matched to your new shade afterwards.
